International Ministries Update August 2024
Adriaan Fourie shares this devotional in his series called Truckers Call.
When you are asked to attend an event, do you take the required dress code to heart? Do you abide by the dress code? If you don’t, the host could remove you from the event. We don’t decide the dress code if we aren’t hosting. That’s the host’s job.
In Matthew 22:10-14, a king sent out invitations to many family and friends, highly regarded and distinguished people, for his son’s wedding feast. Sadly, this invitation was ignored and in the end, people from the highways were gathered and invited to attend the event. These people who ended up attending the event didn’t have to abide by the dress code. It is reasonable to accept that these people would not have the desired dress and he surely made provision for them to be “acceptable.”
Scripture gives us some understanding of this garment. In Revelation 3:18 the Bible states through John, that God makes the “correct” garment/dress code available so that our shame would not be revealed, but rather concealed. In Jesus Christ, He makes this garment available, when He redeemed us from the curse of the law (as the result of our sins) by becoming a curse on our behalf (Galatians 3:13). Scripture is clear that we are born without the correct garment. If we do not accept the redemption of Jesus, we will be removed from the event or wedding feast. Such a decision has the cost of true repentance and a change of life.
If we accept His invitation and are clothed with the right garment, we will be welcomed into the kingdom of God.
