International Ministries Update – December 2024
From: Adriaan Fourie
Sister Lameck Tunu from Kenya shared her experience of God’s provision, just as He did for Ruth and Esther in the Bible. As a woman in ministry, serving God where He permits, it is quite difficult in a world and culture where men are predominantly expected to guide. As such, this humble lady (from a Muslim background as a child) is dedicated to serving truck drivers without regard to the challenges that come with this type of ministry. When she talks to male drivers, she needs godly men who can accompany her to provide acceptance from those drivers being served. Since these men are needed, Ms. Tunu is expected to pay for their travel expenses and meals. If not, the men would be reluctant to help her, even though she communicates that this is a matter of faith without financial support being promised. But she lives with the knowledge that where God guides, He will provide.
And provide He does! Here is a specific witness to her faith and God’s provision. She received a call from a pastor who lives in the major port city of the Mombasa Highway on the coast of Kenya. The pastor wanted her to share about the ministry she is doing to the trucking community with a group of ministry leaders. The trip would be about 500 kilometers (300 miles) one way. She had no money for this trip or for accommodations while staying in the city. She also knew of several families of the drivers she had shared the gospel with earlier in the week who lived in this city. The drivers asked if she would visit them. So, God had guided her to two opportunities for ministry without any funds to make this trip.
She planned; God provided. The day before her trip, an unexpected gift from a family member covered all of her costs for the trip. In addition, she was able to offer a small gift to the families of the drivers. It was such a blessing and encouragement to both the church community and the families to show how God provided so specifically for her trip.
