Don’t Wait. Step Through.

“Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” — Hebrews 10:24

Last month, we reflected on what it means to live with expectancy—to pray for open doors, watch for where God is already at work, and prepare ourselves to respond faithfully. But expectancy cannot end with simply noticing an opportunity. Eventually, an open door requires a decision: will we walk through it, or will we wait for someone else to go first? Don’t Wait. Step Through.

It is easy to see a need and assume someone else will respond. Someone else will make the call, offer encouragement, give generously, volunteer, speak up, or stop long enough to listen. We tell ourselves we are too busy, not qualified, not prepared, or simply not the right person. Sometimes we wait because the need feels too large. Sometimes we wait because we are afraid of doing the wrong thing. And sometimes we wait because we have quietly convinced ourselves that caring is someone else’s responsibility.

But what if the need in front of us is not meant for someone else? What if God allowed us to see it because He is inviting us to respond? Scripture repeatedly connects faith with action. We are called not only to recognize what is good, compassionate, and necessary, but to act on it. That does not mean we must solve every problem or carry every burden alone. It means we should not ignore the next faithful step simply because we hope someone else will take it.

Across the trucking community, people carry burdens that are often hidden behind a schedule, a cab door, or a quick conversation at a truck stop. Drivers spend long hours away from home and family. A company may be trying to support an employee through crisis without knowing where to turn. A chaplain may recognize that someone needs more than a brief greeting. A family may be facing grief, illness, financial strain, or uncertainty while the demands of the road continue.

In those moments, ministry does not always begin with a formal program or a perfect answer. Often, it begins when someone pays attention—when someone asks one more question instead of walking away, remembers a name, follows up after a difficult conversation, offers to pray, shares a helpful resource, connects a person with support, or simply stays present long enough for trust to grow. These choices may feel small, but they communicate something powerful: you matter, your burden has been noticed, and you do not have to carry it alone.

Stepping through an open door does not require having every detail worked out. It requires willingness. God often uses ordinary people who are available—people willing to listen before speaking, learn before assuming, serve without recognition, and act even when the outcome is uncertain. No one person can meet every need across the trucking community. The question is whether each of us will respond faithfully to the person, opportunity, or responsibility God has placed within our reach.

Do not wait for someone else to step in. Be willing to step through. Make the call. Begin the conversation. Offer the prayer. Give what you can. Share the need. Invite someone to learn more. Connect TFC Global with a church, business, driver, or community partner. Encourage a chaplain. Follow up with the person God keeps bringing to mind. Take the next faithful step, even if it seems small.

Through prayer, generosity, encouragement, introductions, volunteering, and faithful advocacy, you help TFC Global remain present where the needs are real. You help chaplains build relationships over time. You help place practical and faith-based resources into drivers’ hands. You help create opportunities for care before a crisis and compassionate support when life becomes heavy.

God often answers prayers through people who are willing to act. One person notices. Another connects. Another gives. Another prays. Another follows up. Each response may look different, but together they carry one mission forward: bringing care, presence, and the hope of Christ wherever the road leads.

This month, we invite you to ask God to make you attentive to the doors already in front of you. Pray for the courage to respond rather than hesitate, the humility to serve without needing recognition, and the wisdom to know what faithful action looks like. Pray also for TFC Global’s chaplains, staff, ministry partners, and supporters as we continue listening for needs, strengthening relationships, and preparing to serve the trucking community well.

The door may lead to a conversation, a new relationship, an act of generosity, a practical solution, or an opportunity to share the Gospel. Whatever it looks like, may we be people who do more than pray for open doors. May we recognize them, respond faithfully, and be willing to step through.
